Disney Infinity Appeals Equally to Male and Female Gamers

The Disney Infinity franchise appeals to both boys and girls at an equal rate. According to a report at The Wall Street Journal, the demographic split for players of Disney's toys-to-life franchise is almost 50/50.

Disney's John Vignocchi told the Journal the demographic split between male and female gamers was initially expected to skew around 70% male and 30% female, but the actual numbers showed an even split.

Vignocchi credited the appeal to young females being attributed to "Disney’s IP treasure chest of powerful and strong female characters."

Destiny's The Taken King Will Not Have a Raid on Day One

Destiny’s upcoming The Taken King expansion will not feature the King’s Fall raid on day one of its September 15 launch.

“Its not going to be available on day one,” The Taken King director Luke Smith told IGN during its live show at PAX Prime 2015. “We definitely have a plan for when it’s going to be available. I’m not going to announce the plan for it on the youtube gaming stage.

"But I promise for people who are excited about the raid will know when it's time to take time off work. We’ll give em’ a heads up,” he added.

Bungie previously told IGN that the expansion’s upcoming King's Fall raid is bigger than other Destiny's raids Vault of Glass and Crota’s End. The new expansion introduces Oryx, the father of Crota's End raid boss, Crota. Oryx heads a new class of enemies called the Taken as he seeks to strike revenge for the death of his son.

Dragon Age: Inquisition's Latest Story DLC Revealed

Dragon Age: Inquisition's ending is about to be built upon.

During a PAX Prime panel, IGN learned more about Trespasser, the upcoming story DLC for BioWare's epic fantasy RPG. According to what was shown, the expansion will detail the fates of the heroes two years after they managed to save the world.

More specifically, players will learn new things about the Inquisitor's mark, a Qunari army will have a role to play, and the Eluvian mirror will make an appearance. We expect to learn more soon.

This is the third release of story DLC for Dragon Age: Inqisition, the first being Jaws of Hakkon and the second being The Descent. It will release on September 8, 2015.

Defiance: Season 3 Finale Review

Warning: full episode spoilers follow.

The Season 3 premiere of Defiance made it clear that the show would be darker and more unpredictable this year, and the show has delivered on that promise over the past several months. The finale was notable for switching gears, however. Even with the town once again in dire straits, there was an undercurrent of optimism and adventure to this episode - one that helped offset the fact that the scope of the conflict was disappointingly limited.

"Upon the March We Fittest Die" delivered the culmination of the season-long Omec storyline, as the newly empowered Kindzi took her place as Allmother of her people and set about turning Defiance into one a massive buffet. Thus began a two-pronged conflict for our heroes. While Doc Yewll led Nolan, Datak and Irisa on a mission to destroy the Omec ship, Amanda and the rest were tasked with waging a ground war against these hungry invaders.

Mortal Kombat X PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Versions Cancelled

The old-gen versions of Mortal Kombat X have officially been cancelled.

"After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game.

"We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned," said Community Admin Yorick on WB Games' community blog.

Minecraft Vet, Rookie Each Play Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode

From the flint-and-steel activation of a Nether Portal to a notable ubiquity of clucking chickens, Minecraft: Story Mode’s demo seemed deeply invested in conveying the familiar environmental experiences of Minecraft into its narrative. I’m curious how the open slate of Story Mode will ultimately interface with the mostly-mechanical Minecraft world, but from what I saw, Telltale is off to an encouraging start.

I was happy to see that Story Mode will be the first Telltale game to allow players to choose their player avatar. In a nod to Minecraft’s multiplayer character customization, Jesse is rendered in six different models, with three male iterations voiced by Patton Oswalt and the three females by actress Catherine Taber. All six designs seem carefully crafted from the familiar colors and textures of the Minecraft palette, with cleverly Minimal detailing granting each a distinct look.

Here's How Nightfalls Are Changing in Destiny

Destiny: The Taken King creative director Luke Smith has revealed some upcoming changes to the way Destiny Nightfalls work.

The big updates include a Level 40 level requirement, a 30 second time-out penalty for death, and your fireteam wiping no longer returns you to orbit.

Smith wrote about these changes on Bungie's website. "The death penalty of being kicked to orbit often leads to players feeling forced to play too safe, rather than running through the world as a monster killing machine."

Smith added "another thing we didn't like about the Year 1 Nightfall was how players could feel forced to play Nightfall as early as possible in the week to maximize the benefit from the Nightfall buff. So, we've shelved that buff until we can reform it into something closer to its original intent - a mark of prestige for having achieved something challenging. We've adjusted sources of XP and Reputation up to account for its absence."

What's in the FIFA 16 Demo

EA Sports has revealed what will be included in the upcoming FIFA 16 demo, which is set to launch on September 8.

You'll be able to jump into a single Kick-Off match, take part in a FIFA Ultimate Team Draft, and pick up some tips in the FIFA Trainer mode. During the loading screens you'll be able to play one of six new skill games. There's also a Bundesliga Broadcast Presentation, featuring special broadcast graphics in a match between Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

BigBen Confirms Rugby World Cup 2015 Release Date

BigBen Interactive has confirmed that Rugby World Cup 2015 will release on September 4, 2015.

The release comes two weeks before the World Cup commences and is heading to PC, PlayStation 4, 3 and Vita, and Xbox One and 360.

Minecraft: Story Mode Beta Will Be Playable at PAX

The beta for Telltale Games' Minecraft: Story Mode will be playable for the first time at this year's PAX Prime.

As per Telltale's official blog, this will be the first time anybody's played the narrative-driven riff on Mojang's popular game outside of the company. It will also be the first time Telltale's shown off Minecraft: Story Mode outside of the teaser trailer shown off at Minecon.

Here's Nolan North as Ghost in Destiny

Bungie has provided the first look at Nolan North as Ghost in Destiny.

A new teaser trailer for Destiny: The Taken King features the first dialogue spoken by North as Ghost, who's taking over duties for Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage. North, who's known for his portrayal of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, has reportedly assumed the role because of availability issues with Dinklage.

North as Ghost isn't the only new addition coming to Destiny with The Taken King expansion. Bungie has previously highlighted 27 major changes on the way for the shared-world shooter.

Phantom Pain Gets a Companion App at Launch

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be launching with a companion app on September 1.

According to Konami, the Phantom Pain companion app will function similarly to the Ground Zeroes app, giving players access to Snake's iDroid and allowing them to view the in-game map during play. The app will show more of the map than on the game screen.

In addition to the map functions, the companion app will let players listen to all records and music obtained in the game.

The companion app will be available at Phantom Pain’s launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox One.

September's Xbox Games with Gold Revealed

Microsoft has revealed the games its offering as part of its Games with Gold program during September.

Xbox Live Gold members in possession of an Xbox One will be able to download The Deer God throughout the month, while Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be available from September 16 until October 15.

Xbox 360 owners, meanwhile, get Battlestations: Pacific from the start of the month up until September 15, after which they can grab Crysis 3 until the start of October.

Hideo Kojima Releases His Final Metal Gear Solid Trailer

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has released his final trailer for The Phantom Pain.

The trailer, which you can see below, is pretty nostalgic, with the first half looking back at highlights from earlier entries in the franchise. Considering this is the last trailer he'll ever help produce for the series he birthed, it's pretty understandable.

Last month, players discovered a peculiar foreshadowing of Konami's decision to remove Hideo Kojima's name from the official Metal Gear Solid 5 box art. It's a move one Australian store has decided to take steps to rectify.

Australian Store Puts Kojima on the Metal Gear Box

Australian home retailer JB Hi-Fi has begun adding Hideo Kojima's name to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain displays in its stores across the country.

Thanks to Kotaku who noticed the first images. Back in July, it was revealed that Kojima's name had been removed from the MGSV box art. This particular event may have been predicted by Kojima in a Ground Zeroes mission.

Destiny’s Xur Will Reveal The Taken King Exotic Gear Tomorrow

The official Destiny Instagram account suggests that gear merchant Xûr will reveal new exotic gear he will sell with the upcoming The Taken King expansion.

"My will is not my own, Guardian. The Nine have commanded me to reveal Exotic treasures you may discover in your future. I will speak with you tomorrow. - Xûr, Agent of the Nine," the post reads.

The post could be interpreted that Xûr will make an unscheduled appearance in the Tower tomorrow show off the new items. However, it’s far more likely that Bungie will outline the gear on Instagram.

Optimists will see if The Agent of the Nine turns up before his usual weekend appearance when the weekly reset hits in a few hours at 2:00 a.m. PST. Otherwise, fans will get to check out the fresh gear on Destiny’s official Instagram account.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta Gets a Life Extension

Treyarch is extending the lifespan of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta by an extra day, the developer announced on its official Twitter account.

Originally scheduled to end on Sunday, the beta will now wind up on Monday, August 24 at 10:00 p.m. PDT / 1:00 a.m. EDT/ Tuesday 6:00 a.m. BST/ Tuesday 3:00 p.m. AEST.

Metal Gear Solid 5's PVP Component Features Microtransactions

The competitive multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain known as Forward Operating Base may feature play-restricting microtransactions.

Forward Operating Base allows players to construct offshore fortresses aside from their main Mother Base. Players allocate resources and manpower acquired from the main game to defend these bases from online invaders or attack other players fortresses.

GameSpot discovered in its review process that in order to build their PVP bases, players may need to unlock space in the open water using in-game currency called MB coins.  According to GameSpot, these MB Coins are purchased by using real-world money.

WWE's Seth Rollins Talks SummerSlam, 2K16 and Jon Stewart

Seth Rollins has had quite a year in the WWE. After splitting off on his own from the highly popular trio he was a part of, The Shield, Rollins would find increasing success and in 2015, became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the culmination of WrestleMania 31. At this weekend’s SummerSlam -- look for IGN’s live-blog during the event on Sunday! -- Rollins will face John Cena in a match that has both of their titles (Cena is the current United States Champion) on the line.

I had the chance to speak to Rollins at the big SummerSlam kickoff event this week, which was also celebrating the upcoming release of WWE 2K16. Rollins and I discussed his SummerSlam match, what it’s like being in a video game and more – including the fact that big wrestling fan Jon Stewart, who Rollins had a comedic feud storyline with earlier this year, will be returning to WWE as the host of SummerSlam.

In the lead up to The Phantom Pain, we thought it'd be fun to takle a look back at the most memorable fights we had throughout the series. Whether the fight itself was fun or the character just stuck in our mind as particularly awesome, here are 17 of our favorite Metal Gear Solid bosses.

A fun, but often forgotten idea from a special collaboration between Konami, Kojima Productions, and Capcom, Gear REX is a Monster Hunter-esque take on Metal Gear Solid's iconic bipedal tank. Mechanically, the fight itself wasn’t quite as memorable since Gear REX could have been substituted for “Gear bullet-sponge,” but just look at that visual! It’s wide head and majestic stance made it a living and intimidating interpretation of a fan favorite boss. As a result, we felt it had to be a part of this list.

Grand Theft Auto Franchise Has Shipped Over 220 Million Units

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed lifetime shipments of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have passed the 220 million mark.

The figure comes out of a shareholder outreach presentation, in which the parent company of developer Rockstar also reiterated 54 million of these were thanks to Grand Theft Auto V alone.

It's important to note the exact phrase used: '"sold-in". Sold-in means sold to retailers, as opposed to sold through, which represents the final sale to consumers.

Red Dead Redemption Has Shipped 14 Million Copies

Red Dead Redemption has officially shipped over 14 million copies, according to Take-Two.

The figure was revealed in a shareholder outreach presentation and marks a small leap from the 13 million figure we last heard. This appears to refer to the base game, as Undead Nightmare seems to be included in a follow-up bullet point that reads "commercially successful expansion content".

How Blizzard is Building on Diablo's Legacy to Secure its Future

Blizzard has suggested Diablo III's highly-praised Seasons feature could soon make the leap from PC to consoles - and that's just one of several improvements the developer has to continue improving the game across the board.

For those not in the know, Seasons are essentially Diablo III's version of the Ladders found in the previous installment in the franchise. They enable you to create a new Seasonal Hero and take them through the game from a fresh starting point, in a bid to accrue as much loot and gold as possible within a set time period, before everything is rolled back into your main non-Seasonal character once the Season concludes.

Up until now, Seasons have only been available on the PC version of the game, meaning PS4 and Xbox One players have had to make do with Adventure Mode and other offerings. Ostensibly this was because the consoles don't have to be online all the time and their communities are more fragmented, meaning the design pillars on which Seasons are built wouldn't translate well. Now, however, as we approach the start of Season 4 on PC, it seems Blizzard may be having a rethink.

Dark Horse Delivers Mirror’s Edge and Halo Exclusives

For those attending PAX Prime next weekend, keep an eye out for Dark Horse’s two convention exclusives for Mirror’s Edge: Exordium and Halo.

With the new Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst game coming out, DH is publishing a prequel comic by the game’s writer, Christofer Emgard, called Mirror’s Edge: Exordium. Bungie Posts Job Opening for PC Compatibility Tester

A recent post on developer Bungie's careers board is advertising an oening for a PC Compatibility Tester.

According to the post, the job requires employees to "evaluate PC hardware-specific features and ensure various systems work together across multiple PC configurations to provide a great experience."

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with shipping a PC game, over two years in software testing, and can "work in a cross-discipline environment with a desire to work closely with designers and engineers to verify their systems work properly across multiple PC hardware configurations."

Here's What Square Enix is Bringing to PAX Prime 2015

Publisher Square Enix has detailed their lineup of games and events being brought to PAX Prime 2015 in Seattle, Washington.

A number of their upcoming games will be featured, including Just Cause 3, Lara Croft Go, and Life is Strange. Additionally, fans will also be able to check out Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae, and Dragon Quest Heroes.

Destiny's Gjallarhorn Will Not Be Upgradable to Year 2 Damage Level

Destiny's most coveted and powerful weapon the Gjallarhorn will not be making a return with the launch of The Taken King also referred to as Year two.

The news came in the Bungie weekly update where the developer clarified some unanswered questions from the community. Many noticed that the weapon was not shown during yesterdays Year two reveal stream and questioned whether or not it would make an appearance. Players will still be able to use the weapon, but it will have a new base attack value of 160.

Year two weapons will have a base attack value of 280, and have a chance to be Infused. Infusion is a new system that allows players to consume a more powerful weapon to boost the attack value of a favorite piece of gear. When speaking about the change Bungie said "In addition to a bunch of brand new Exotics for you to discover in Year Two, we’re redesigning and redeploying some select Exotics from Year One" but they noted that "Gjallarhorn will remain a Year One Exotic at Year One levels."

American McGee: Alice Would be 'Amazing' With Virtual Reality'

American McGee, creator of the macabre Alice series, has explained why he's promoting a petition to convince Electronic Arts to greenlight a third installment of the horror-adventure franchise.

The petition, which rose from within the fan community, has almost succeeded in realizing its 15,000 signatory goal.

No PC Pre-Load For MGS 5: The Phantom Pain

Konami has confirmed that there will be no pre-load option for players purchasing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC.

In a Twitter exchange with fans, online community manager Robert Allen Peeler stated that it was "pretty common practice for PC/Steam users", but didn't have "a specific reason".

"Unfortunately PC Steam will not have a preload option," said Peeler on Twitter. "However players will be able to preload on console."

You'll be able to commence your PC download when the game goes live at midnight on September 1.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Could Extend to Original Xbox

Microsoft's head of Xbox has revealed making games from the company's original Xbox console playable on Xbox One is something he's actively investigating.

Taking to Twitter, Phil Spencer responded to a fan asking about the possibility of such a feature to say: "I don't think it's silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now."

While far from a concrete promise, it certainly sounds like Microsoft is keen to see such a feature implemented at some stage in the future. With Backwards Compatibility for Xbox 360 titles due to launch to every Xbox One in November, hopefully we'll have news to share on this before too long.

Injustice: Year Four #8 Review

The Injustice: Year Four saga reaches another transitional point with this new issue. Writer Brian Buccellato wraps up the current battle between Superman's forces and the Greek gods, focusing more on character building as he sets the stage for the final conflict to come. The two chapters in this issue make a few storytelling missteps, but on the whole they make for a satisfying installment.

The sudden arrival of Zeus is enough to grind the current battle to a screeching halt. Buccellato is great about depicting Zeus as an imposing figure who inspires dread and awe among all combatants. That effect is only enhanced as Buccellato flashes back to the early history between Zeus and Ares and the latter's transformation from noble warrior to embittered god of war. Perhaps it's taken too long to get to this point, but the Greek gods are receiving the same deep character treatment as the main cast.

Bungie Reveals Vault Space Fix for Destiny Year 2

Bungie has revealed that vault space in Destiny will be increased to 72 slots for both weapons and armor, effectively doubling the vault space available to Guardians.

This announcement, made during Destiny's Year 2 Reveal live stream by community manager Deej, aims to address one of the major, long running concerns of the Destiny community who have struggled for some time to find ways to filter, organize, and store the weapons, armor, materials, and cosmetics they've accumulated in the game.

Telltale's Back to the Future May Come to PS4, Xbox One

To commemorate the film's 30th anniversary, Telltale Games' Back to the Future may be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 later this year.

According to a listing on Amazon Canada, Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Edition will be released October 13 and will cost $30 CAD (roughly $23 USD).

How Progression Works in Destiny: The Taken King

During a livestream presentation, Bungie shared more details regarding how levels, gear, and progression work in Destiny: The Taken King.

Your current light level will transition and become your character’s overall level the first time you log into Destiny 2.0. Previously, the character level maxed out at 20, and gathering armor with a high light stat would increase the base level.

When a player logs in day one, the game will inspect your character gear and vault to determine your new level. Bungie advised players to hang onto their current high-level gear and not dismantle anything until after The Taken King’s release.

Defense and attack values are calculated by averaging all your equipped gear. The light stat will now be connected to all of your gear (including your class specific Hunter Cloaks, Titan Marks, and Warlock Bonds).

Two More Key Devs Have Left Amazon Game Studios

Two more key members of Amazon Game Studios have left the company.

Following Clint Hocking’s departure, director of narrative design Eric Nylund and principal game designer Jonathan Hamel are no longer with Amazon Game Studios. Both Nylund and Hamel updated their LinkedIn profiles to reflect their end dates as July 2015.

Nylund’s duties at Amazon involved “leading effort to create and manage the story of multiple game titles” and creating “new intellectual properties.”

WayForward Is Developing a New Goosebumps Game

WayForward is developing a new point-and-click adventure game based upon the popular Goosebumps book series.

Although the developer has not formally announced Goosebumps: The Game, the new title has appeared on the Xbox Store complete with screenshots, initially penciled in for an October 14 release to tie-in with the upcoming movie also scheduled to release in October.

"The walk home from school today is going to be a lot spookier than usual… Your sleepy neighborhood’s been overrun by monsters!" says the listing on the Xbox Store. "Werewolves prowl the woods, Gnomes roam underfoot, and scarecrows walk at midnight. Gearbox Is 'the Full and Rightful Owner' of Duke Nukem

The lawsuit between Gearbox, 3D Realms, and Interceptor Entertainment regarding ownership of the Duke Nukem property is officially over, with all parties making statements on the matter today. This follows the news in May that a mediated settlement had been agreed upon by all parties.

The terms of said settlement have not been disclosed, although it’s apparent that Gearbox has emerged as the “full and rightful owner of the Duke Nukem franchise.”

“When Interceptor acquired a license to develop ‘Duke Nukem Mass Destruction’ (‘Duke Nukem Survivor’) from 3D Realms, we did so in good faith and were not aware of any conflict,” said 3D Realms CEO Mike Nielsen. “We never intended to cause any harm to Gearbox or Duke, which is why we immediately ceased development after Gearbox reached out. To secure the future of Duke, 3D Realms has agreed with Gearbox that a single home serves the IP best. And as big Duke fans, we’re excited to see what Gearbox has in store for the ‘King.’ As for our own games, we’re eager to complete development of the ‘Bombshell’ game and get it in the hands of our fans.”

Comcast to Shut Off Xfinity App on Xbox 360

Xbox 360 owners should note that the Comcast Xfinity app will no longer be available in a few weeks.

In response to a question on Twitter, Comcast support claimed the app was being removed to "make way for new updates and improvements." Windows Central reports no further details about these planned changes are known at this time.

The app originally launched to some controversy when it was criticized for not counting video streaming against its own bandwidth caps. It will effectively be shut off on September 1.

Pick What Game Kalimba Dev Press Play Works on Next

Developer Press Play wants fans to pick what game project the Denmark studio works on next.

Describing the process as a "transparent development initiative," Press Play is letting the public vote for one of three different game ideas: Projects Karoo, Dwarka and Knoxville. The team is taking feedback until September 1 and then will announce the winner September 8.

As for the different concepts:

• Project Karoo is a physics-based construction game that features multiplayer. It's set in an open world and lets players build vehicles and machines.

Resident Evil 2 Fan Remake Shut Down By Capcom

Now that Capcom is working on an official Resident Evil 2 remake, popular fan project Resident Evil 2 Reborn has been cancelled at Capcom's request.

It might not be all bad news for creator Invader Games, though, who took to Facebook yesterday to announce that although they have to can their own remake, Capcom has invited them to meet on official terms.

"We're honoured to announce that we've been officially invited to meet Capcom," wrote Invader Games. "Capcom called us up in advance of the announcement and asked us if we would mind stopping the project as they had longer term plans for a Resident Evil 2 Remake. They have invited us to a meeting to discuss further ideas."

Deus Ex Creator Warren Spector to Open PAX Australia 2015

Penny Arcade Expo has announced that videogame industry veteran Warren Spector will be providing the opening 'storytime' keynote at PAX Australia 2015.

Spector is best known for his work behind the helm of acclaimed 2000 cyberpunk action-RPG Deus Ex but he’s also worked on a wide range of other games during his 30-year career, including System Shock, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Wing Commander, and Disney’s Epic Mickey. He’s currently the Director of the Denius-Sams Gaming Academy in the Moody College of Communication at The University of Texas at Austin.

Spector will deliver his keynote on the opening morning of PAX Aus 2015 on Friday, October 30.

PAX Aus is scheduled for the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 30 to November 1, 2015. Single day passes and three-day international passes are still available.

Clint Hocking Leaves Amazon Game Studios

Clint Hocking, Creative Director of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Far Cry 2, has left Amazon Game Studios.

Hocking also spent time at Valve and at LucasArts following his time at Ubisoft before joining Amazon in 2014 alongside Portal's Kim Swift. Hocking has not announced any new career moves. Swift will host the keynote speech at PAX Prime 2015 later this month.

Disney Infinity: Twilight of the Republic Trailer Revealed

During today's D23 game-centric panel, Disney debuted a new trailer for Twilight of the Republic, the upcoming Star Wars-themed Playset coming to Disney Infinity: 3.0 Edition.

The gameplay trailer featured several action shots of the Clone Wars era. We saw General Grevious wielding four light sabers, the ruthless bounty hunter Cad Bane blasting away with his guns, and Darth Maul equipped with his iconic double-bladed light saber.

Throughout the video, Maul delivered a number of menacing lines, which appeared to be voiced by Sam Witwer, the actor who played him in the Clone Wars cartoon.

The trailer concluded with a shot of Darth Maul charging at Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, and Yoda as they all attempted to hold him off with a collaborative Force Push.

Marvel Battlegrounds Playset Coming to Disney Infinity

During today's D23 Expo, Disney announced Marvel Battlegrounds, a new Marvel-themed Playset coming to Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition.

This new Playset will bring four-player gameplay to the series for the first time and feature two new playable characters: Hulkbuster and Ultron, the latter of which can control rocks and creates copies of himself.

Panel attendees were treated to a trailer for Marvel Battlegrounds, in which Hulkbuster is seen beating up the Green Goblin.

Disney had several other exciting announcements for Disney Infinity fans, including the announcement of a Disney Infinity/Kingdom Hearts crossover, as well as a first look at its upcoming set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens figures.

Mickey, Mulan, and More Coming to Disney Infinity 3.0

During today's D23 game-focused panel, Disney revealed several new characters that will be coming to Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, including Peter Pan, Olaf, Mulan, Mickey, and Minnie.

In addition, Spot from The Good Dinosaur will be coming in November, along with four Power Discs based on the movie. Both Judy and Nick from Zootopia are coming to 3.0 as well, plus a special line of Star Wars figures whose light sabers illuminate when placed on the Infinity base.

Those who attended the panel were given a special Power Disc that allows players to dress up Mickey as King Mickey, which will prove to be a hot item among collectors, as only 5,000 have been made.

During today's panel, Disney also shared some exciting news for Kingdom Hearts fans, including the announcement of a Disney Infinity/Kingdom Hearts crossover and confirmation that Big Hero 6 will be featured in Kingdom Hearts III.

New Multiplayer, Other Features Coming to Disney Infinity 3.0

Disney Interactive revealed a group of new features coming to Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. The new features announced for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition include Flynn’s Arcade, El Capitan, sidekicks, farming, and new tools and toys.

The Toy Box Hub is the launch area where "every adventure begins and where players come to play their way." There are six different gameplay zones that can be uncovered, from platforming to racing to farming, to simultaneously "learn about building and experience playing in the Toy Box."

A path creator, toy dispenser, and music note creator are among the new tools coming to Disney Infinity 3.0, along with toys including Main Street USA, Elsa’s Ice Palace, Marshmallow from Frozen, and new vehicles "such as Mad Hatter’s Teacup, Splash Mountain log, TRON Light Cycle, and more."

Capcom Cup Dates Announced

Twitch Plays Dark Souls is Death Over and Over

Last year, Twitch impressed us by beating Pokémon Red in sixteen days. Now it's trying to take on Dark Souls.

Unlike the adventure across Kanto, From Software's action-RPG is a whole other beast. Death is a common theme in Dark Souls. In fact, it's nearly unavoidable. Players die over and over again, but it's part of Dark Souls' genius. Ultimately, death is education which leads to progress and each victory is truly momentous.

As such, the game is notoriously difficult. Compound that with thousands of Twitch viewers taking the helm to control one character through a journey where everything and everyone can kill, we will undoubtedly be greeted by Death over and over again.

Guillermo Del Toro Vows Never to Work on a Video Game Again

Guillermo Del Toro has sworn off getting involved in video games ever again following the cancellation of two successive projects.

Speaking to Shack News, the legendary director revealed the cancellation of Insane in 2012 following the demise of its publisher THQ and the more recent death of Silent Hills has become too much to bear.

“I have proven to be the albatross of video games,” he said. “I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something."

PS4 and Xbox One Are Selling Must Faster Than PS3 and Xbox 360 Did

If you compare the amount of time the consoles have been on the market, Xbox One and PS4 are massively outselling their last-gen counterparts.

According to NPD Group, 21 months after launch, PS4 and Xbox One sales are "close to" 50% ahead of where PS3 and Xbox 360 sales were at the same time in their lifespan. Overall, game hardware sales rose 2% from June to July.

“Xbox One and Xbox Live continued to see strong sales and engagement in July, with Xbox One sales in the U.S. up 44 percent over July 2014 and active global Xbox Live users (Xbox One and Xbox 360) up 22 percent," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.

Additionally, NPD has shared that LEGO: Jurassic World was the best-selling game in July.

LEGO: Jurassic World was the best selling game of July, according to the NPD group.

The game outsold heavy hitters like GTA 5, Destiny, Minecraft, and Batman: Arkham Knight, which was the best selling game in June. However, NPD notes that if sales were included from hardware bundles, Batman would have remained in the top spot.

Konami and Kojima Will "Kiss and Make Up," Says EA Boss

Despite the ongoing drama between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami, Electronic Arts COO Peter Moore doesn't think this will be the end of their relationship.

Dying Light: The Following Expansion Trailer and Details

Techland has released the first trailer for Dying Light's story-driven expansion, The Following, along with some new details.

The expansion will apparently see Kyle Crane travel to a new outback area populated by cultists who are somehow tied up in the zombie outbreak.

In order to get to the bottom of what's going on, players will need to infiltrate the cult by first earning their trust. Optional paths are promised, along with the ability to customise and upgrade your dirt buggy, which will have its own skill tree.

The Bozak Horde DLC was released for Dying Light in May. Techland has also recently stated that even though it is currently putting all of its focus on Dying Light, Hellraid has not been cancelled.

Skyrim Sequel Won't Be Discussed for 'A Very Long Time'

Anyone hoping for a sequel to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in for a bit of a wait according to Bethesda’s VP of Marketing.

Speaking to DualShockers at Gamescom, Pete Hines explained the company is focusing all its energies on the upcoming Fallout 4, with it looking like "a very long time" before the team even talks about what its next project will be.

Hines goes on to explain Bethesda Game Studios usually focuses on one title at a time, and doesn't like to split its team. Considering Fallout 4 is still being finished off, with mod support due to be focused on next, it's not surprising The Elder Scrolls VI isn't on the horizon. This is before we even begin to think about the possibility of Fallout 4 DLC.
