Amazon's Latest Discounted Xbox One Includes Two Controllers and a Free Game
Not only does Amazon's offer include two controllers and a digital copy of Forza Horizon 2, you're also saving $30 off the normal price of the three-game (Gears of War Ultimate, Rare Replay, and Ori and the Blind Forest) bundle as well. The Microsoft Store is offering close to the same deal, only with a copy of Halo 5 instead Forza and an additional (bargain bin) free game.
Telltale Games has announced a June 7 release date for Episode 6 of Minecraft: Story Mode - titled 'A Portal to Mystery' - and revealed that six real-life Minecraft celebrities will appear during the episodic adventure in newly blocky form.
Telltale announced three extra episodes after the seeming season finale back in March, of which Episode 6 is the first.
'A Portal to Mystery' will feature hero Jesse and his friends thrust into a mystery story in a zombie-infested world, finding themselves trapped in a mansion with six new-but-familiar characters.
WWE and WCW icon, Goldberg, will be the pre-order bonus character for WWE 2K17. In a press release given to IGN, publisher 2K stated:
"Best known for his unprecedented 173-0 singles competition win streak in WCW from 1997 to 1998, Goldberg will appear in WWE 2K17 through two playable characters representing his WCW and WWE personas."
This marks the first time in 12 years that Goldberg has worked with the WWE, and according to him, his son had "a lot to do with it." Check out our interview with Goldberg at the top of the page for more of his thoughts on being featured in a WWE product after all this time.
As for 2K17, no solid gameplay details yet, but the release does outline an October launch window. It's also worth noting the presence of Xbox 360 and PS3 logos in the Goldberg trailer, indicating that a last-gen version will be developed again this year.
A listing on the Xbox Store has outed the Resident Evil 5 Xbox One release date as June 28.
The $20 / £16 Xbox One version of Resident Evil 5 will be available in 1080p with an increased frame rate.
The game will also include all previously released DLC: Lost in Nightmares, Desperate Escape, Versus Mode, The Mercenaries United mode, and the previously PC-exclusive No Mercy Mode.
Capcom has not revealed this date officially yet, so we will update you if it changes, or if this is also revealed to be the PlayStation 4 date.
The Xbox One and PS4 version of Resident Evil 6 launched earlier this year, and the Resident Evil 4 port is also due out in a few months time. There are also plans for a Resident Evil 2 remake.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were first introduced to the world way back in 1984. The original, Mirage Studios comic, created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, was a parody of several existing comic franchises. The success of the comic later spawned a syndicated cartoon program, and from there, Turtlemania swept the nation.
Suddenly the Turtles were everywhere, from video games to breakfast cereals, to an increasingly baffling line of action figures. The first live-action movie, way back in 1990, was a run-away success and spawned two follow-ups.

Following this morning's report, more information is streaming in regarding Microsoft's two new Xbox One models the company will reportedly release over the next two years.
One of Microsoft's new consoles—codenamed project Scorpio—will be four times as powerful as the current Xbox One model, a source told Polygon. The second console, which is reportedly a "slimmed down version of the current hardware," will also receive a controller redesign.
In Kotaku's earlier Xbox One report, it was said the smaller, cheaper Xbox One console would release this year, and contain a 2TB hard drive. This console is expected to be revealed at this year's E3. Polygon's source reported the announcement was prompted, "among other things," by Sony's speedy timeline for its upgraded PlayStation 4.

Earlier this week, Bungie issued its latest emergency patch for Destiny, fixing an exploit in which players could receive unlimited heavy weapon ammo.
The developer cancelled its scheduled Trials of Osiris event and put its weekly Iron Banner on hold until the issue could be resolved. With Destiny all patched up, Bungie has granted Lord Saladin clearance in the Tower. Destiny's Iron Banner event is live now and will run until the next weekly reset, which typically happens every Tuesday morning at 2am PT.
Players who participate in the event's playlist—which, this week, is Control—can earn a bunch of new weapons and armor pieces. Gauntlets, chest pieces, sidearms, and fusion rifles are available from Lord Saladin and as post-match drops. Exclusive armor is available for PlayStation 4 users.
Boss Key Productions co-founder Cliff Bleszinski has shed light on why he left Epic Games, discussing his frustration with the company, as many thought Gears of War was "kind of a fluke."
"It's simple: a big Chinese company comes along and I had a chunk of ownership at Epic and they buy out 40 percent of it without any strings attached," Bleszinski said on the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered when asked why he retired.
"Epic at the time, and I say this very carefully because they've really kind of changed into their own entity.... But at the time there was this whole like 'Gears was kind of a fluke,' you know, and I could pitch any idea to the company and inevitably I'd have somebody in my office going 'I don't buy it.'"
Konami has officially announced PES 2017, and it's coming later this year for PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Konami is inviting players to "control reality," and the official PES 2017 website has plenty of information regarding areas that will be improved upon in this year's game.

Blizzard's new hero shooter just hit the market and wouldn't you know it? It's already discounted on Amazon, and you don't need to be a Prime member to get in on it. I was up late into the night digging into this game - if you like team based shooter action, this is not one to be missed. Console and PC copies are $49 on Amazon (if you're buying it on PC the best deal might still be to buy the standard version from Blizzard for $40, but if you're an Amazon Prime member, you can get the Origins Edition on PC for just $8 more and score some extra in-game content.
We all know at least a few things about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For example, Leonardo leads, while Donatello does machines. While that may be a fact, jack, the upcoming Platinum Games-developed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan has a lot more to show us than the turtles' individual roles on the team. The game is due May 24, which means now is the perfect time to get up to speed on everything you need to know regarding the upcoming game.
In November 2015, a listing on the Australian Classification Board's website gave us our first glimpse of details for the unannounced game. We learned Activision was publishing, Platinum Games was listed as the "author," and the sub-title of the game was Mutants in Manhattan. Aside from that, though, there wasn't much information to glean.

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski stopped by the IGN office to discuss his history at Epic Games and shared with us why his favorite entry in Microsoft's beloved cover-based shooter series is Gears of War 3.
In the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered, the Boss Key Productions co-founder said that while many still believe Gears 1 is the series' best installment, the third entry tops his list because "that's where we really honed things and had dedicated servers and everything. We had multiple game types, different characters, women in the battle.... It was cool."
For Bleszinski, Gears of War 3 was "kind of the culmination of everything," with the game's conclusion serving as a metaphor for his experience relaxing on the Carolina coast, and the character Anya Stroud (and her relationship with Marcus Fenix) drawing inspiration from his wife Lauren.
Two Remastered Batman Games for $40
Turns out that rumored Batman remaster is the real deal. Batman: Return to Arkham gives you Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for $50, and if you have Amazon Prime or Gamer's Club Unlocked, you can snag it for just $40.
Despite becoming one of Xbox 360's most popular and influential multiplayer games, the original Gears of War nearly launched without a competitive multiplayer component.
In the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered (airing next Tuesday), series creator Cliff Bleszinski explained why, noting they "were under intense pressure from Microsoft to get the game out for holiday" and the company "didn't really think the cover-based gameplay would be any fun."
The team initially created "maps that felt like a lot like Counter-Strike," but discovered the game's "slow clunkiness and slow turning speed" made for an experience that "was kind of frustrating" when other players managed to get behind you. It wasn't until the map Gridlock was created that things began to fall into place, as the "half-donut" design fostered the "hide and go kill" gameplay that fans have come to love.

Marketing materials have leaked Destiny's next expansion, 'Rise of Iron'.
A Rise of Iron poster, which portrays Lord Saladan with a huge hammer, originally sprung up on Reddit. Sources close to Kotaku later confirmed its authenticity, saying that the expansion will feature a new raid - "likely fallen-themed" - and will be "larger than both year-one DLC packs".

After redesigning Halo 5: Guardians' Forge system "from the ground up" for the Xbox One, 343 Industries will bring Forge — Halo 5: Guardians Edition to Windows 10.
The creation tool—which will be free—will include keyboard and mouse support, increased resolution, and the ability to publish creations to Xbox One. Windows 10 users will also be able to recruit friends to help built, test, and play Forge maps.
"Forge on the PC will finally give the mouse/keyboard editing precision the community has always been clamoring for," 343 Industries UGC director Tom French said. "On top of that, an updated and optimized UI geared towards mouse interactions makes a lot of the inputs in Forge easier/faster than before."
Here's a deal worthy of Nathan Drake himself: a healthy 18% discount on the latest Uncharted, no Amazon Prime subscription required. This is a pretty great discount for such a stellar game that's been out for just a little more than a week. I'm still working my way through the story - as long I can knock it out before Overwatch arrives, I'll be happy.

Take-Two Interactive revealed Grand Theft Auto V has sold 65 million copies since launch.
That number represents an increase of 5 million copies since the company revealed it had moved 60 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V in its last financial call with investors. That means in this quarter alone, Grand Theft Auto V averaged sales of 1.67 million per month.
The figure is staggering, but its continued success is arguably made more impressive given the original game released in 2013 on last-gen consoles.
In August 2015, Take-Two revealed lifetime sales for the GTA franchise topped 220 million. The sales numbers for GTA V have increased an additional 11 million since then, putting lifetime sales of GTA as a franchise over 230 million copies, if you only count sales of the most recent game.

Last-Gen Call of Duty Fans, Don't Miss This Modern Warfare Collection
If you've still got your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 hooked up and you've got a hankering to revisit the first three Modern Warfare games, this collection brings them all together for just $24 with Amazon Prime.
It looks as though Call of Duty: Black Ops will become backwards compatible on Xbox One soon.
Eurogamer spotted an image on the Xbox 360 dashboard today with the caption "COD: Black Ops - Now Plays on Xbox One." However, it seems the image has since been taken down.
It has been assumed for several months Black Ops will be coming to Xbox One's backwards compatibility service. The game is currently listed under the "Even more favorite titles coming each month" section on the Xbox One backwards compatibility website alongside the Bioshock trilogy and Skate 3. Today's image suggests we aren't too far away from an official announcement.
Unfortunately, it's not online to view, but at the NBC Universal Upfront event today, a teaser was shown for Syfy's Superman prequel, Krypton.
This is notable for a couple of reasons: One, Krypton only just had a pilot ordered, so showing a teaser seems to indicate Syfy is fairly confident the project is going to series. Second… Well, Krypton only just had a pilot ordered, so there was clearly no actual footage to show. But given the circumstances, what was shown was more than you might expect.
The teaser begins in space, and we see the familiar House of El "S" symbol, backed by green. As the camera continues through space, a voice over begins to ask what remains when a civilization dies, pondering if their art and culture are remembered after it’s all gone. As we hear these words, it becomes clear we are flying through the debris from Krypton after it has blown up. We see some green rocks, indicating Kryptonite, hurtling past.

Electronic Arts is releasing Battlefield 4's fifth DLC pack, Final Stand, for free to Xbox Live Gold members on Wednesday, May 18, according to an Xbox One Community Calendar listing.
The DLC is part of Electronic Arts' Road to Battlefield 1 promotion. The publisher intends to continue giving away previously released DLC for both Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline for the "next few months."

Despite earlier reports that it may not be possible, Microsoft has found a way to make Xbox One backwards compatibility function with multi-disk Xbox 360 titles.
The news came from Major Nelson himself, via a post on r/xboxone. In fact, the first multi-disk game was added earlier this week, Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut.
In a statement to IGN, a Microsoft spokesperson had this to say:
"Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut” was the first multi-disc Backward Compatible title added to the program. We know fans were asking for this feature and our engineers worked hard developing a solution to enable it so we could further expand the titles included in Xbox One Backward Compatibility. We’re continuing to listen to our fans on Xbox Feedback and work with our publishing partners to grow out library of Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles and will work to include more multi-disc games."
So the new logo for Hideo Kojima's development studio, Kojima Productions, apparently has a secret behind it, according to an interview the famed Metal Gear creator gave to Famitsu recently.
The logo was originally revealed last December when he first announced the founding of Kojima Productions, as well as a partnership with Sony for their first game. While the logo certainly looked cool, there wasn't any indication about what it meant, if anything at all.

Lowest Price Yet for Fallout 4
Fallout 4 is just $28 and some change on consoles, and only $29 on PC. If you've yet to leave your vault and journey out into the wasteland, I've never seen the game any cheaper than this.
Few video game franchises have remained as consistently incredible as Final Fantasy. For nearly 30 years, each new Final Fantasy game from Square (and later Square-Enix) has been a major cultural event. But which games in this beloved franchise are the best, and which were a little too experimental for their own good?

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trilogy bundle has been spotted, indicating a May 17 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Listed on the Best Buy website, the 3-disc, $30 set comprises Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, as well as the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus map pack.

According to numbers released by the NPD Group today, Dark Souls III was the best-selling game for April 2016 in North America.
The top 10 list several console exclusives, with Star Fox Zero for Wii U premiering at the 10 spot ND Quantum Break, the Xbox One exclusive, coming in 7th overall. But the biggest console-exclusive title in the top 10 was Sony's Ratchet and Clank, which took second place.

PlayStation 4 was the the top-selling console in the United States last month, according to The NPD Group.
Not only was Sony's gaming machine the best-selling console in the US for April, it also outpaced Xbox One and Wii U during the month of March, as well as February.
The NPD Group's Liam Callahan said that hardware sales dropped 23 percent when compared to April of last year, due in large part to a 19 percent decline of $30.4 million in console sales. Current-gen console spending dropped by 15 percent, while last-gen console dollar sales declined by over 70 percent. Additionally, portable hardware sales dropped by $11.3 million.
In the wake of Disney Infinity's cancellation, news have surfaced of what could have been for the future of the series.
As reported by Kotaku, plans for the franchise included toys and sets based on upcoming films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Cars 3, Star Wars Episode VIII, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Thor: Ragnarok. While Rogue One content was slated to debut later this year, the rest would've been a part of 2017's Disney Infinity 4.0.

From gratuitous violence and vehicular carnage to same-sex romance and, uhm, rampant graffiti, a great many games have been censored, refused classification or banned entirely in a variety of countries around the world. The legal wrangling and content changes that follow such decisions have seen games being delayed, heavily modified or, some cases, entirely withdrawn from sale in one region while another barely bats an eyelid.
So, what does it take for a game to be banned and what does that even mean?
Usually, when we talk about a game being banned in the US, UK or Australia, it means that the relevant ratings board in that country has refused to bestow an age rating to the title, effectively making in illegal to sell. This can happen for a great many reasons and it’s not always as black and white as it might seem.

Yesterday, Disney announced it's cancelling Disney Infinity, and has closed 21-year-old studio, Avalanche Software.

All forms of entertainment have their unfinished projects, but I've found there's always something especially painful about learning that a long-awaited game will never come out. We never properly knew it, so it's not exactly like the loss of a loved one; it's more like spending years wanting to visit a well-loved landmark, only to find it's been wiped off the map or irreparably damaged. The interactivity of games means these are real memories we're losing out on.
Thousands of games have suffered such a fate. We don't even know the names of many of them, but some have had their names shouted to crowds at shows like E3 and generated discussions even some properly released games should envy. These are the games we're talking about here, and fittingly for the bad luck so many of them seem to have suffered, there are thirteen of them.
Disney announced it's cancelling the Infinity line, and is getting out of the business of self-publishing games altogether. A charge of $147 million "in connection with the discontinuation" of Disney's console game business affected the company's earnings.
Disney released a statement regarding the series' discontinuation, promising two more upcoming sets, "including three new characters from Alice Through the Looking Glass," as well as a Finding Dory playset in June.
Senior vice president and general manager John Blackwell said he wanted to "take a moment to thank" fans of the Infinity line, "not just for your support over the years, but for creating a community" around the Disney toys-to-life franchise.

Net revenue generated by King Digital Entertainment made up 23% of Activision Blizzard's revenue for the quarter ending March 31, according to financial statements released by the company.
Additionally, revenue from digital distribution channels for the company grew to 64%, from 45% of the total for the same period last year, an all-time quarterly record for Activision Blizzard.
Overall, Activision Blizzard reported a better-than-expected first quarter for its fiscal year.
The acquisition of King Digital Entertainment was officially closed in February, with Activision Blizzard buying all of King's outstanding shares for $18 USD each, for a total value of $5.9 billion.

Final Fantasy XV doesn't launch until September, but fans in Japan can explore the world of Final Fantasy right now at two Final Fantasy-themed cafes located in Tokyo.

EA is offering DLC for Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline for free.
Specifically, EA is giving away Battlefield 4 add-on Dragon’s Teeth, and Battlefield Hardline’s Robbery DLC. Both packs will remain free up until May 10.
In Dragon’s Teeth, players receive four multiplayer maps – Lumphini Garden, Pearl Market, Propaganda, and Sunken Dragon – as well as five new weapons and a ballistic shield gadget, an armoured ground vehicle, and the Chain Link game mode.

Mighty No. 9 will be released in North America and Asia on June 21, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune announced today. The game will be available worldwide on June 24.
According to a post on the Mighty No. 9 website, Mighty No. 9 has gone gold, and is now in its "final stages." After facing multiple delays, the game's release date is "set in stone."
