When Andrew Wilson took over as Electronic Arts' CEO in 2013, his goal was to improve the relationship between EA and its audience with a “player-first” mentality. It was, unsurprisingly, a very corporate-sounding initiative, something meant to give a then-reviled company a sense of humanity. Two years later, Wilson’s “player-first” approach has had drastic consequences for EA. The results have been clear, tangible benefits to a player base formerly united by their hatred for the publisher.
