Hitman Episode 2 Release Date Announced

Episode 2 of Io-Interactive's Hitman will be released on April 26 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Announced alongside a short, extremely simple trailer/postcard, the next episode will take Agent 47 to the fictional Italian coastal town of Sapienza.

This is the second of six digital-only Hitman episodes, continuing with levels set in Marrakesh, Thailand, the U.S. and Japan. A disc release, combining all six episodes was recently delayed to January of next year.

In our review, we gave Episode One, set at a Paris fashion show, a 7.9, saying it "combines the best of Absolution and Blood Money".

American McGee's Spicy Horse Studio Suffers Job Losses

American McGee’s Shanghai-based studio, Spicy Horse, has reduced its staff to a core team.

Five Years After Release, Two Worlds 2 Is Getting Story DLC

November 9, 2010 saw the release of action-RPG, Two Worlds II. 5 years, 4 months and 17 days later, developer Reality Pump Studios announced two new pieces of story DLC, set arrive this year.

Announced via the DLC's new website, Reality Pump announced Call of the Tenebrae and Shattered Embrace, two story updates that will come alongside eight new multiplayer maps.

The game will also add an engine update that will allow for "a much higher level of character and landscape detail, an HD-GUI, in addition to tons of in-game achievements, co-op multiplayer, and lots of new in-game features and upgrades.

The first single-player update, Call of the Tenebrae will release in Q2 of 2016, and involves the game's original Hero fighting off a new enemy race, rat-like humanoids called The Chosen.

Ubisoft Starts a New Studio

Ubisoft announced it will open a new studio in the Philippines. The new branch will focus on collaboration and development of its upcoming AAA console games.

The new studio, Ubisoft Philippines, will be the second production house for the company located in Southeast Asia. Ubisoft Singapore was the company’s first studio in that region when it opened in 2008. The Philippines-based studio will open in the second quarter of 2016, with a goal to hire up to 50 employees in its first year.

Ubisoft has big plans for its studios in Southeast Asia. Speaking to IGN, the company pointed out that its Singapore team started small team and grew to over 300 employees as of 2015. The Singapore-based team has also made major contributions to the Assassin’s Creed series, most notably pioneering the naval gameplay of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Ubisoft Singapore is currently the lead studio on an unannounced project for console and PC.

Hayter on Kojima: I Don't Feel Any Need to Go Back and Work With Him Again

Former Solid Snake voice actor, David Hayter, recently opened up about the "humiliation" of being replaced by Kiefer Sutherland in the latest iterations of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

In an interview on Game Informer's podcast, the veteran VA spoke about how he learned of the studio's decision, as well as how he felt about the decision-makers.

"I've got no particular love for

Kojima," he said of the franchise's creator. "I don't feel any need to go back and work with him again."

On whether or not he'd actually play the game, he said, "That'll be 60 hours of humiliation that I can’t get to. I haven’t played the latest two iterations, because it’s just too painful.”

Disney's 2017 2017 Event Dates Revealed

Disney's next D23 event will take place July 14-16, 2017. The event will take place in Anaheim, CA, and tickets will go on sale July 16, 2016, with prices to be revealed this summer.

D23 2017 will feature "a massive show floor full of immersive experiences and special opportunities to see what’s next for Disney around the world—and guests may run into their favorite Disney stars, characters, Imagineers, animators, and filmmakers."

Star Wars: Episode 8 and Thor: Ragnarok highlight Disney's 2017 movie slate, with Spider-Man hitting theaters just before the D23 Expo. In addition to that, expect comics, television, and other news from the event.

Hear a Beatle's Voicemail to Destiny Composer

When you’re as accomplished a composer as Marty O’Donnell, getting an international rock icon like Paul McCartney to sign on to help in composing the soundtrack to your game is just a product of luck and solid connections.

In an interview with IGN Unfiltered, O’Donnell explained the process of how the ex-Beatle became involved. When speaking with an associate one day, O’Donnell was asked who he would ideally want to work with as Bungie prepared to start work on the Destiny score. McCartney’s name was floated, which he remembers seeming impossible.

High Res Images of New Destiny Enemies Released

Bungie released high resolution images of some of the upcoming Destiny enemies, and also clarified a point about the Prison of Elders.

Bungie ran a live stream earlier in the week detailing its Spring update. You can find the full stream archive below. However, unlike what was mentioned on the stream, Prison of Elders does not have any checkpoints.

Community manager David "DeeJ" Dague has also given us updates on a couple of other things that weren't mentioned on the stream. Namely, King's Fall will drop rewards up to 330, and Court of Oryx will drop Artifacts up to 335.

Ark: Survival Evolved Lawsuit Means the Game Could Be Pulled From Sale

Ark: Survival Evolved developer, Studio Wildcard, has been hit by a lawsuit from Trendy Entertainment, the studio behind Dungeon Defenders, which could result in Ark being pulled from sale.

In a recently unearthed court document, obtained by Kotaku, Trendy claims its ex-creative director, Jeremy Stieglitz, is in breach of a previously signed contract.

Trendy’s lawyers allege Stieglitz had agreed to several conditions to secure his exit from Trendy in 2014. Those conditions, according to Trendy, included not attempting to poach staff from the company, and not creating direct competition.

Assassin's Creed: Templars #1 Review

Titan Comics' latest Assassin's Creed project has several big selling points right out of the gate. For one thing, it explores the other side of the centuries old conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. For another, it features an intriguing setting in the form of 1920's-era China. Finally, and appropriately given that distinctive setting, it reunites the creative team behind Marvel's X-Men Noir comics, writer Fred Van Lente and artist Dennis Calero. All of these qualities combine to form a worthwhile comic for any Assassin's Creed lover or anyone who loves a little pulpy action.

This mini-series aims to shed a little more light on the Templars and humanize this shadowy group of control-obsessed masterminds. This first issue focuses on both the Black Cross, a mysterious Templar killer who bears more than a passing resemblance to The Shadow, and Darrius, a destitute college student who is selected to carry out a dangerous mission for the Templars. The stark contrast between these protagonists is enough to make the story interesting. And while Black Cross is kept at arm's length for the entirety of this issue, with little insight into his personality or motivations, Darrius quickly becomes a fully realized character with his own desires and foibles. If the goal of this series is to show a human side to the antagonists of the Assassin's Creed series, it's succeeding.

New Prison of Elders Challenges Coming to Destiny

Bungie revealed details of its upcoming Destiny April update during a live stream today.

During the stream, Bungie showed off some of the new challenges coming to the Prison of Elders. All told, Bungie has 16 weeks of challenges planned for the Prison of Elders. "It'll be fresh and new for 4 months," community manager David "DeeJ" Dague said.

The new update, downloadable on April 12, will raise the light level cap to 335 from its current max of 320. In addition to the level cap raise, Bungie promised new bounties, quest lines, a new mission and new strike. Bungie also added checkpoints to Prison of Elders in response to fan demand.

There's also a unique Petra questline for PlayStation owners, the details of which Bungie has not revealed at this time.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is the Episode 7 Game We Deserve

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens beautifully captures both the authenticity and excitement of the film. In addition to its cute and clever representations of people and places from The Force Awakens, the new LEGO Star Wars tests even the most obsessed fan’s knowledge and attention to detail.

Unsurprisingly, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens functions similarly to previous LEGO games, with puzzles aimed at kids and humor aimed at everyone. New systems allow for more experimentation, such as building numerous different objects using the same pile of LEGO pieces found in the environment.

Finn, Rey, BB-8, and the rest of the cast of over 200 characters have distinctions that make them unique, both in terms of how they fight and what they can do. The agile Rey navigates better with the help of her staff, but she needs a droid to power certain generators to open new pathways.

How The Beatles Influenced the Halo Theme Song

Halo’s theme is built upon gothic monk chants and orchestral swells, but its inspiration has roots in an unlikely source.

During an interview on IGN Unfiltered airing later this week, Halo composer Marty O’Donnell shared the origins of the Halo theme and how The Beatles were partially responsible for its inception.

Around the time of MacWorld 1999, O’Donnell remembers the development team at Bungie creating a demo to be shared onstage. Despite the rapid progress they made, the demo still lacked the music it would need to help make a good impression.

Sensing the urgency, O’Donnell offered to create a theme for the demo, making a deal allowing him to retain the rights to the composition and license its use for an estimated $3,500.

Xbox One March System Update Rolls Out Today

Microsoft is releasing its March system update for Xbox One and the Xbox app today.

The update—which was previewed earlier this month—will allow Xbox One users to purchase Xbox 360 backward compatible games directly through the Xbox One. Once the update hits, players will be able to find and purchase 360 games exactly the same way as with Xbox One titles.

Head over to IGN's Xbox One backward capability wiki for a full list of available games.

Other updates will allow players to include party chat in a Twitch broadcast, output party chat to both headset and speaks simultaneously, and enable 16-person party chat. Microsoft has also improved thumbstick precision on its Xbox Elite wireless controller.

Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 3 Is Coming in 2016

The next installment of Telltale's The Walking Dead will land sometime later this year.

The news comes courtesy of an interview between the developer and Mashable. In the article the studio also leaves some vague clues about how it will tie into the first two seasons.

Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner says the new series will take an "unexpected" approach to tying together previous stories. He specified that it wouldn't be from "the bag of tricks that we've ever shown anybody before."

More information will be revealed about the new season at the 2016 Comic Con International. At least the first episode of the new season will then release before the end of the year.

Composer Reveals the Original Ending of Halo 2

Halo 2 has gone down in gaming history for having one of the biggest cliffhanger endings in a single-player campaign, resulting in the iconic scene of Master Chief delivering the powerful line “Sir. Finishing this fight.”

In a recent interview with IGN Unfiltered airing later this week, however, composer Marty O’Donnell revealed this was not the original ending planned for Halo 2.

According to O’Donnell, the original ending of Halo 2 had a much cleaner resolution, ending with Master Chief finding the Ark of the Covenant on Earth, then working with the Arbiter (then known as the Dervish) to stop the Prophet of Truth.

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 5 Dated, Also Getting 3 Extra Episodes

Telltale's Minecraft: Story Mode series will receive its fifth episode next Tuesday, March 29. Episode 5 was expected to be the end of the first series, but Telltale has also announced that three more "post-season" episodes will arrive throughout 2016.

Episode 5, titled "Order Up!" will bridge the gap from Episode 4's concluded Wither Storm story arc to the new content, and sees the series' heroes arrive in an entirely new (and extinction-threatened) world, Sky City. The voice cast will be joined by Lord of the Rings' Sean Astin.

After the finale, however, the three extra episodes will follow hero Jesse and his group on further adventures into new worlds. They'll be treated as add-ons to the existing series, meaning you'll need to have downloaded at least Episode 1 to purchase them.

Next Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC Release Date Announced

The Cold Darkness Awakened DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming out on March 29.

This is the third and final piece of downloadable content, and according to the announcement on Xbox Wire it will have Lara Croft encountering "an army of nightmarish predators."

"A decommissioned Cold War research base has been breached, unleashing a deadly affliction from its Siberian slumber," reads the description. "As the illness seeps into the wilderness surrounding the base, Trinity soldiers transform into bloodthirsty killers who thrive on carnage. To prevent the affliction from spreading, Lara must rely on her wits, physical agility, and crafting abilities to overcome this new enemy and shut down the decommissioned base."

Capcom Celebrates 20 Years of Resident Evil With New Developer Interviews

Capcom is celebrating 20 years of Resident Evil with new behind-the-scenes content about the survival horror series.

It was on March 22, 1996, that we first opened those mansion doors to a whole new genre of video games. Since then, the series has sold over 66 million copies worldwide and spawned six major game releases, as well as several spin-off titles and Hollywood movies.

The developer interviews will roll out over the next year and feature insights from a selection of team members who "played a vital role" in developing the series and the Resident Evil brand itself.

The first in the series features an interview with producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who has been involved with the series (and subsequent movies) since the very first instalment. Despite acknowledging that he's "not fond of horror" himself, Kobayashi credits the secret of Resident Evil's success to a great horror atmosphere, its various puzzles and its wide variety of stories and activities.

Canceled Bungie Game 'Gypsum' Revealed

Bungie may be best known for sci-fi shooter franchises, but there was a time when its developers worked on a game project deeply rooted in fantasy.

During an interview on IGN Unfiltered airing later this week, former Bungie composer and audio designer Marty O’Donnell revealed a since-cancelled project blending fantasy and mythology into an action game.

Code-named Gypsum, this game was built on the Halo engine and helmed by two men who had previously created a mod called “Chimera” for Bungie’s Myth. It went into development in between Halo and Halo 2, alongside another later-cancelled project called Phoenix. According to O’Donnell, developers working on Phoenix were moved onto Gypsum once development was halted on the former project.

Factor 5 Was Working on an Open-World Superman Game

Factor 5, the studio behind the much-loved Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, was once working on a Superman game.

The game, codenamed Blue Steel, has been shown off in a video project by Unseen64. It was originally planned for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii – although the Wii version didn’t get past the ideas phase.

The plan for Blue Steel was to tie it in with Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns sequel. When Warner Bros. decided to can Singer’s follow-up in favour of another Superman reboot, Factor 5 changed the vision for Blue Steel into something else: An open-world Superman game for Superman fans.

The Witcher 3 Wins SXSW 2016 Game of the Year

CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was crowned Video Game of the Year at South by South West's Gaming Awards. And it's not the first big win for The Witcher 3—the open world role-playing game was also named IGN's 2015 Game of the Year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took home the most awards of the night, also winning for its Excellence in Narrative and Excellence in Technical Achievement.

Bloodborne, IGN's PlayStation 4 Game of the Year, and Rise of the Tomb Raider, our Xbox One Game of the Year, each took home two awards. For Bloodborne, Excellence in Art and Excellence in Design. For Lara Croft, Excellence in Animation and Most Enduring Character. Undertale—IGN's PC Game of the Year—was given the title of Most Fulfilling Crowdfunding Game, as well as the Matthew Crump Cultural Innovation Award.

Halo Composer Discusses Being Fired from Bungie

Marty O’Donnell’s sudden departure from Destiny developer Bungie made headlines in 2014, and for the first time the accomplished Halo composer is opening up about the ordeal.

In an interview with IGN Unfiltered, O’Donnell claims tensions had begun to rise between himself and the other studio heads at Bungie over creative and business decisions for Destiny.

here were things that were being re-jiggered, and my frustration with some of the business and creative decisions started to mean that I was on this side of the divide and everybody else was on this side,” he said of the differences between himself and other staffers. “And, as much as we tried to bridge it, it just didn't seem like it was going to get bridged.”

IGN played the opening of Platinum Games' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, including the first boss fight against Bebop. It's much more open-ended than we expected, with excellent navigation reminiscent of Sunset Overdrive in what may be the most open world the studio's ever made.

Take a look at 20+ minutes of gameplay below, including a walkthrough of the basics, what Mutants in Manhattan is like if you're playing alone, and the full-blown madness of four-player co-op, plus the Bebop boss battle on its own if you want to analyze Platinum's latest big-bad design.

Metro 2033 Film in the Works

Producers Michael De Luca and Stephen L'Heureux have teamed up with author Dmitry Glukhovsky to work on a Metro 2033 movie.

According to Variety, De Luca and L'Heureux will produce, and the project was brought to them by Eugene Efuni, who is also on board to produce.

Metro 2033 is a novel by author Dmitry Glukhovsky which has also spawned two video games: Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. “My novel and I have been waiting for this to happen for the last 10 years,” said Glukhovsky. “I have previously been extremely careful about handing my ‘baby’ over to Hollywood producers for adaption for a feature film, but now I feel that it has landed in the right hands. De Luca and L’Heureux have a great vision for this project, and I feel it’s an honor to work with them.”

New Level Pack, Figures Coming to LEGO Dimensions

More content is coming to LEGO Dimensions by way of new expansion packs from Ghostbusters, DC Comics, and Midway.

The Midway Arcade level pack includes a Gamer Kid minifigure, vehicle from Spy Hunter, and an arcade machine. From DC comes the Superman Fun Pack and Aquaman Fun Pack. Finally, from the 1984 Ghostbusters film comes the Stay Puft Fun Pack.

The Midway Arcade level sees Gamer Kid trying to put characters from Midway Arcade back into the machines in which they belong. Over 20 classic arcade games, including Joust, Gauntlet II and more, are unlockable and playable.

The Superman Fun Pack includes a Superman minifig and a Hover Pod which "can be rebuilt into a Krypton Striker and Super Stealth Pod for upgraded in-game abilities." Aquaman comes with a minifig and Aqua Watercraft, good for "swift getaways."

Rockstar Adds a Heap of Free New Items to GTA Online

Rockstar has today released the free Lowriders: Custom Classics DLC pack, which adds lowrider customisations, new clothes, tattoos and haircuts, a new Adversary mode, Sumo, and two new weapons, the Compact Rifle and the Double Barrel Shotgun.

The vehicle customisations are what Rockstar has been trumpeting - head to Benny's Strawberry mod shop to upgrade the Slamvan, Virgo and Donk into their custom lowrider variants. You can see the results of some of those upgrades below:

Meanwhile, Twitter users have been discovering other new content added in the pack - GTA Base has catalogued a Hightop haircut, several new tattoos, new jackets and the two new guns.

Lindsay Lohan v GTA Case Gets the Go Ahead

A Judge has ruled in favour of letting the case of Lindsay Lohan versus Grand Theft Auto move forward.

According to TheHollywoodReporter, on Friday New York Supreme Court judge Joan Kenney decided she wants to hear what Lohan’s legal team has to say.

“When deciding whether or not a complaint should be dismissed,” reads the court document, “the complaint must be constructed in the light most favourable to the plaintiff, and all factual allegations must be accepted as true.”

New MGS Online Mode Cloaked in Silence Available Now

Metal Gear Online's latest DLC, Cloaked in Silence, is now available.

Cloaked in Silence is a "dedicated, squad-based multiplayer component" of Metal Gear Online and includes three new maps - Coral Complex, Rust Palace and Azure Mountain.

For the first time, the character Quiet will be available in Metal Gear Online.

The Cloaked in Silence Expansion Pack - which includes the three maps and Quiet - is on sale now for £3/$4. You can also pick up a selection of Appeal Packs -  which add the Basic, Battle, Dance, and Hero emote animations - either individually or as part of a bundle (prices across territories will vary).

The expansion also gets you access to the new win-streak centred Survival mode, which arrives on April 7. All players are able to access the new mode for free and play up to 10 matches a week (the week resets each Tuesday during scheduled maintenance), but those of you with the expansion pack have unlimited access.

King's Quest Chapter 3 Coming Next Month

The third chapter of King's Quest, titled Once Upon a Climb, is due for release on April 26.

Coming out for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, Once Upon a Climb will be a romantic comedy adventure featuring King Graham’s wife and Gwendolyn’s grandmother, Queen Valanice.

Longtime King's Quest fans will recognize the name and know the story of how Graham rescued Valanice from Hagatha's tower, but apparently the truth behind the fairy tale is more complicated than it appears.

King's Quest: The Complete Collection, which includes all five chapters and a bonus epilogue, along with the King's Quest Season Pass, which contains Chapters 2-5, are now available on the PS Store, the Xbox Store, and Steam.

The Division Becomes Biggest Q1 Launch in UK History

Tom Clancy's The Division has broken an 11 year record to become the biggest first quarter video game launch in UK history.

According to GfK Chart-Track, The Division has beaten the record held by Gran Turismo 4 since 2005. In addition, last week Ubisoft revealed that The Division had the highest day-one sales in the company's history.

Ubisoft is enjoying success in the UK at the moment, with three titles in the UK's top 10 for this week. The Division knocked Far Cry Primal down to the number two spot, while Rainbow Six Siege is hanging on at number 10.

The Walking Dead: Michonne Ep. 2 Release Date Announced

Telltale announced episode two of The Walking Dead: Michonne mini-series is coming out March 29.

In Episode 2, titled "Give No Shelter," Michonne, Pete and Sam escape from the floating colony of Monroe. Unfortunately for them, "the leaders of Monroe don't forgive and don't forget."

"With memories of her daughters bleeding ever further into Michonne's blurred reality, her world is becoming increasingly fractured," according to Telltale Games. Telltale released a spoiler-heavy trailer to illustrate the effects of choices made in episode 1.

Episode 1 of the miniseries released February 23. In our review of The Walking Dead: Michonne Episode 1, we said while the story wasn't enough to fully hold our attention, the character of Michonne is so well realized she carries the episode on her own.

LEGO Civil War Character Pack Now on all Platforms

A character pack for LEGO Marvel's Avengers based on the upcoming Captain America: Civil War is now available on all platforms.

Previously, the Civil War character pack was a PlayStation exclusive. Nine new characters are included in the free pack: Agent 13, Black Panther, Captain America, Crossbones, Falcon, Iron Man (Mark 46), Scarlet Witch, War Machine, and Winter Soldier.

Black Panther and Crossbones make their console-game debut with the character pack, which is available as a free download right now.

The new characters are, of course, based on the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie, which itself is based on the Marvel universe story of the same name. A new trailer for Captain America: Civil War came out over the weekend and gave us our first brief glimpse at Spider-Man. Or at least, Spider-Man as he now appears as a film property in the continuity of the modern Marvel cinematic universe.

Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan Release Date Announced

Platinum Games' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan action game has a release date, and it's much sooner than you might have expected. The four-player co-op game is coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PS3 on March 24, 2016.

The release date was unveiled at the end of a new trailer featuring boss battle gameplay, including Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang, Karai, and Shredder, revealed exclusively on IGN. Check that out below.

The Top Selling Games for February Announced

According to numbers from the NPD Group, Far Cry Primal was the top selling game for the month of February.

However, according to a statement from the NPD Group, "decreases in hardware spending," as well a decrease in sales of new, physical hardware, "led to an overall decrease in physical spending of 12 percent."

Far Cry Primal wasn't the only new release in the top 10. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Street Fighter V and Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, also appeared on the list.

If all three versions of Fire Emblem fates were combined into one, the NPD Group said it "would have ranked third for new physical software sales" for the month.

The top 10 games for the month of February are listed in order.

Assassin's Creed Movie Statue Announced

Kernel has revealed the first Assassin's Creed statue based on the upcoming film, and it's being made by TriForce.

Officially called the 'Triforce Aguilar Premiere Scale Statue', it's a quarter scale, hand-painted polystone statue of the movie's main character, Aguilar, in a standard assassin pose.

Microsoft Cancels Fable Legends, Project Knoxville

Microsoft has cancelled Fable Legends and Project Knoxville, and the fate of the two studios involved now hangs in the balance.

In a post on the Xbox Wire, General Manager at Microsoft Studios Europe, Hanno Lemke, said the following:

“After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK,” says Lemke. “Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville.”

Although very few details were given, Lemke did mention the changes come as “Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play.”

New Spelunky World Record Beats the Game in 100 Seconds

Spelunky’s new world record is 1:40.145 by speedrunner d_tea.

The record is thanks to a lucky teleporter found at random in a crate in the game’s first level. Just a few levels later, d_tea also finds a jetpack and a compass (as well as a second teleporter), allowing him to navigate to the exit even faster and securing the record.

You can watch the world record run below:

The run beats the previous world record of 1:41.499 by runner SpelunkyGod and means that d_tea now holds three Spelunky world records in the game’s four major categories, including the Hell world record of 3:44.411. The current high score world record, $3404400, is held by speedrunner Kinnijup.

Destiny: New Update to Repair Major Lag Issues

Alan Wake's Return Trademark Is Not for a Game

It looks like we'll be waiting a bit longer for an Alan Wake sequel.

A trademark was spotted last month for "Alan Wake's Return," however, developer Remedy has clarified that it's not for a new game.

According to Kotaku, the trademark is for an in-game live-action video series starring Sam Lake, Remedy's creative director. "A big part of the trademarking process all in all is the legalities of it," Lake said to Kotaku. "Just making sure everything is covered."

Lake said there is "no real news about anything future Alan Wake-related." However, he didn't shut down the possibility of the franchise continuing, saying "we are exploring possibilities and concepting different things, but lots needs to click into place for anything to happen. We will be the first to talk about it when there is something definite to talk about."

1/6 Scale Quiet Statue Glares Over the Battlefield

Toy manufacturer Gecco is offering a better look at its statue of Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, as well as taking pre-orders.

The figure stands at 30 cm high, and is made from ABS and PVC plastic. It was sculpted by Shin Tanabe, who has previously worked with Gecco on sculptures based upon Silent Hill and Naruto. Gecco itself has worked on Metal Gear characters in the past, including Raiden and Big Boss.

Right now likeness of Metal Gear Solid's Quiet can be pre-ordered for $290. That gets you the figure, as well as a detachable handgun, knife, and customizable sniper rifle. The toy itself can also be modified with a head variant featuring Quiet's butterfly face mark.

Marvel Gaming Introduces Women of Power Event

Marvel Games announced its Women of Power initiative today, which runs alongside Marvel Publishing's celebration of female superheroes.

Women of Power will bring "new characters and content" to its portfolio of mobile, handheld, console, and PC games. Peter Phillips, the executive vice president and general manager of digital distribution at Marvel Entertainment, said the event will bring together "some of the most popular heroes and villains" in a "unique way for the first time."

Australian Games Industry Worth Nearly $3 Billion in 2015

Australia’s Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) has today confirmed another year of double-digit growth for video games sales in Australia, with revenue reaching AUD$2.83 billion in 2015. The final figure is made up of hardware, packaged games, subscriptions, digital sales, DLC, and mobile games and represents a 15 per cent leap from 2014’s result.

The IGEA also found that, for the first time, digital sales have eclipsed traditional retail sales. Digital sales spiked 27 per cent to hit AUD$1.589 billion while retail sales reached AUD$1.243 billion (an increase of 2 per cent on 2014).

Xbox One March Update Adds Digital 360 Games to Store

A number of social and store changes are coming to Microsoft's Xbox One platform in March.

Starting today, Xbox One preview members can access the update, with Xbox app beta users gaining access to it tomorrow, March 2. A public release will likely follow at a later date.

The update addresses a number of changes suggested by the community, the most notable of which being backwards compatible Xbox 360 games can now be purchased digitally alongside other Xbox One games, and Party Chat can now be publicly broadcasted via the Twitch streaming app.

Xbox's Major Nelson explained the new Party Chat functionality, specifically mentioning players will have to "opt-in" to have their chat broadcasted publicly. Additionally, the host of the stream can also manage who is heard within the Party.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Gets Long-Term Support in Place of a 4.0

Disney Infinity is taking a new approach for its fourth year on store shelves.

The original Disney Infinity was followed by versions 2.0 and 3.0, which introduced new starters, as well as Marvel superheroes and Star Wars characters respectively. Game Informer reports this year there will be no Disney Infinity 4.0 to follow up.

Vice President of Disney Infinity production John Vignocchi states Disney has already "introduced the four core franchises" to Disney Infinity. Instead of iterating further, the developer will continue to support Disney Infinity 3.0 "with more content, characters, and play sets from all of our beloved brands."

Xbox’s Phil Spencer on E3, JRPGs, and the Future of Xbox

As Head of Xbox Phil Spencer talks more about unifying Windows 10 and Xbox gaming, Microsoft’s goals for players have to adapt. While Microsoft’s plans for E3 remain focused on games, Spencer has greater goals than getting more games on Microsoft’s platforms.

“I think we’ll stay focused on the content,” Spencer told IGN of Microsoft’s E3 plans. “To me, E3 is a gaming show. I’ve made the somewhat trite comment before that people buy gaming consoles to play games, but we did have moments last year like the Elite Controller…. So focusing on the gamer and what the gamer expects from us, and showing those things on stage, is exactly what I want to continue to do. To me, that’s what our brand stands for.”

Metal Gear Online Introduces New Mode, Maps and Character

Konami has announced that the new DLC for Metal Gear Online will be available from March 15, 2016.

Cloaked in Silence will be a "dedicated, squad-based multi-player component" of the Metal Gear Online and includes three new maps - Coral Complex, Rust Palace, Azure Mountain - and features Quiet.

From April 7, 2016 you'll also be able to play new mode Survival which pitches teams against each other to compete for the highest win streak.
